Abstract
The article deals with the problem of designing the educational environment, taking into account the special needs of hearing impaired children, which focuses on the minimization or breaking down the barriers in the communication of these children with others in the educational process. Various factors are considered as barriers of communication, which hinder the perception and production of messages with different content from the simplest to the most difficult in meaning. The article determines such notions as hearing needs, speech needs and communication needs of children with hearing impairments. In the article substantiates the expediency of diagnostics of communicative needs as specific needs for children with hearing impairment. The article differentiates means of communication into two categories - language and non-language. Oral speech, written speech, natural signing, and supportive speech means are the language means of communication. Supportive speech means distinguishes of fingerspelling, Cued Speech, and Manually Code System. Non-language means of communication include gesture, common signs and symbols, as well as images of different nature such as pictures, scheme, drawings and etc. The content of diagnostic tasks and technology of diagnostic examination of communicative needs of children with hearing impairment are outlined. The requirements for communicative competence of the diagnostician are described.
