Abstract

The main prerequisites for cultural competence are sensitivity and self-confidence, understanding of another person's behavior and other mental patterns, and the ability to articulate one's own point of view, to be clear and to show flexibility in situations where necessary. Cultural competence can be considered as a component of cultural communication, it is based on a person's belonging to a certain social group, his or her life experience, possession of information on proper communication behavior, knowledge gained through teaching, observation, familiarization with many cultural and artistic objects.
