Abstract
The monograph explores the theoretical foundations and practical aspects of the variable component of educational content. The didactic principles of formation and realization of the variant component and elective courses are explained. Didactic functions are distinguished and characterized. A set of measures has been developed to clarify the content, goals and objectives of the elective courses and its selection factors. The specifics of level and profile differentiation of training are considered. The necessity of using democratic forms and methods of organizing educational interaction is substantiated. In the optional classes, pedagogical staff use methodological recommendations, which facilitates the implementation of the variational educational component and the diagnosis of the effectiveness of elective courses. Domestic and foreign experience on the subject is described. The conceptual approach to the creation of categories of post-nonclassical education in the system of profile education and vocational guidance of teachers and students is described.
