Abstract
The role of the educational institution head’s professional competence is highlighted. It is found that this quality is an integral indicator of the achieved level of his managerial qualification and determines the result of preparation for effective work. It is established that the process of education managerial personnel professional development has to be concretized by specifics of the educational institutions. The attention is paid to the problem of changing the teachers’ generations and the fluidity of the educational institutions heads composition. It is proved that the rethinking of the well-known functions of professional educational institution management and the development of the labor market creates new requirements for the training and retraining of the management personnel. It is revealed the effectiveness of introducing to the content of postgraduate pedagogical education the scientific researches on problems of professional development of pedagogical staff. The scientific activity acquires the status of organizational capacity. The requirements of updating the advanced training programs and adapting them to the needs of the leader’s personality are becoming urgent. It is proved that the development of programs of special courses that contain theoretical and practical components contributes to the development of the professional competence of managers under postgraduate education conditions. The authors link the opportunity to modernize the content of the executives advanced training to the study of the listeners’ proposals. In the future, it is advisable to link the professional competence of senior (vocational) education executives to the study of the impact of social crisis on the process of training competitive professionals.
