Abstract

The positions of the activity approach, which are the basis for the formation of key and subject competences within the integrated course "I am exploring the world", are identified. Alternatives to the activity approach as opposed to translation and passive learning have been disclosed. An activity-oriented approach in elementary school requires special methodological work in organizing students' activities, which allows them to achieve educational goals, learn self-examination, and ways of assessing the student's own performance.
