Abstract

The European integration of Ukraine, enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine and the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, addresses the issue of developing a foreign language education, synchronizing its goals and teaching methods with EU standards. It is concluded that EU language education policy is actively developing. The analysis of the strategic orientations for the development of the language education sector demonstrates the movement from declaring the importance of knowledge of the languages of EU citizens and the need to acquire several languages into formal education systems, and later - mastering the key competence in communicating in foreign languages to the introduction of a comprehensive, comprehensive European approach.
