Abstract
The article substantiates the relevance and feasibility of the formation of adult education centers (AEC), as non-formal education institutions. It is accentuated that the development of network of adult education centers is an up-to-date education trend in the vast majority of countries around the world. The emphasis is placed on the fact that AEC are centers of social integration of citizens that offer a wide range of educational services in communities, support the development of civil society, employment and self-employment of the population with the growth of competitiveness at the individual and state levels and others. The following models of AEC in Ukraine which in terms of content and organizational aspects function a s adult education centers are outlined: units of educational institutions (secondary, vocational, higher, institutions of specialized education of art and others); departments of libraries, museums and other cultural institutions; institutions of non-formal education on the basis of territorial centers of social services (universities of the third age, active longevity centers); social enterprises. Problems and prospects of development of adult education centers in Ukraine are determined in the article. The conclusion has been made that Centers for Adult Education are the most effective institutional link of the «lifelong education» concept that favours establishing the understanding of the role of non-formal adult education under modern conditions of civilization development.
