Abstract
A new model of knowledge society development requires a modern specialist, teacher of the New Ukrainian School a wide range of skills and competences for the successful performance of their professional functions, to ensure the comprehensive and sustainable development of education and science in Ukraine. Education is transformed into a continuous system of training cognitive workers (knowledge workers) working with knowledge and information flows and able to value them to use for the qualitative implementation of new professional roles and functions. An alternative model of professional development is the virtual department of andragogy. The main purpose of the Virtual Chair of Andragogy is to create a virtual cluster scientific community of andragogues for carrying out scientific, scientific and methodological, experimental and experimental activities on the development and introduction into practice of formal and informal postgraduate education of the newest methods and technologies of adult education, training of highly skilled professionals in the field of adult education . This educational platform helps teachers continuously self-development and self-improvement throughout their lives through formal, non-formal education and informal education.
