Abstract
The attention of historians of pedagogy mostly attract those educational institutions that are associated with the activities of prominent educators. However, the history of the mass of ordinary schools as valuable. They reflect the significant transformation of the education system in a given period and thus enrich scientific knowledge, specifying it at pedagogical practice. The purpose of the article is on the example of the Rovno boarding school № 1 traces the main trends, that characterize the process of creating boarding schools as a new type of educational institutions in the Soviet Union (second half of 50 - 60-ies. years of the XX century). In 1956 the leaders of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union made the decision of the advisability of the creating a new type of education institution, which at higher levels of education had to solve problems of the creating effective builders of a communist society. In these well-equipped boarding schools, which were located in favorable to children's health forests have been work the best teachers. Over time, this type of education had become a major in the education system of the country, but the plan was not implemented, primarily due to lack of appropriate funds. Pupils of the created boarding schools were children who for various reasons find themselves in difficult material living conditions. One of such education institutions was a boarding school № 1 in the city Rovno (opened in 1961) The main sources of study of its History were legal documents, publications first half of 1960 in the newspaper '' Chervonyj prapor'' ("Red Flag" - press organ of the Rovno's region and city committees of the Communist Party of Ukraine) and memories of boarding school pupils Nina Antonets. Boarding school was located in a specially designed complex, it was chosen highly professional teaching staff, the school were provided in good conditions, in addition to secondary education students receiving initial professional training In the same time, in school, in accordance with the policy of the ruling party, carried out an active work at the education of students in the spirit of communist ideology. In 1990 on the base of the boarding school was established a new type of education institution - Rivne's region boarding lyceum with pedagogical professional direction, for talented children from areas affected by the Chernobyl accident.
