Abstract
The article establishes that there is no special school in which no sign language would be used, either in the classroom or during off-hour work. It is characteristic that the sign language is used in widely spoken, written and ductile speech. It is proved that sign language coexists with verbal communication and cognitive activity of the deaf, has for them a great informative value. First of all, deaf students have a much better understanding of the messages transmitted by the sign language than the oral one. The article shows that sign language is one of the developed and peculiar languages of humanity, it plays an important role in the life of the deaf, their cognitive and communicative activities
