Abstract
The author examines the potential of humanitarian subjects of upper secondary school in the process of forming pupils' civic values. The teaching of humanities (history, languages, literature) is always associated with the education of certain qualities in pupils, therefore the meaning of teaching is of great importance, since it brings up a sense of civic duty, tolerance, patriotism in adolescence; directs the process of self-determination of the senior pupil, his or her own choice in favor of civil values of society or consumerism, justice and equality or violence, cruelty and aggression, in favor of health or bad habits, for the benefit of nature or predatory nature for profit.
