Abstract
The article attempts to briefly characterize the competence approach as a phenomenon and as a phenomenon of introduction into the educational process in the context of the conceptual provisions of the New Ukrainian School; outline the range of the most important competences and determine the ways of acquiring them by children with special educational needs; show the interrelationships in the formation of different competencies of the specified category of children.
