Abstract

The brochure is devoted to the development of culture as a foundation for peacekeeping and provides an overview of the responses of art to the challenges of war and peace. The antiwar artistic actions, the influence of the works of famous artists, musicians, directors on the spread of peacemaking have been analyzed. Contemporary art is considered as an expression of social and political activity of artists. Described catharsistic and psychotherapeutic functions of art in conditions of conflict and social confrontation. It has been determined that the Playback Theatre contributes to the psychological recovery of people in a conflict situation with the aim of peacemaking, healing, and grouping of the community. The emphasis is placed on the fact that art is a means to overcome the collective trauma of war. Special attention is paid to Media Art as the latest art of the information age. The brochure was issued under the Peace and Dialogue for Internally Displaced Women Program "The Voice of a Women Acts 2019" ("Women Voices Count"), a joint project of the Human Rights Foundation (Kyiv city) and the Institute for International Cultural Relations ("Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen") (Berlin city) with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Federal Republic of Germany. Designed for practical psychologists, social educators, social workers for the family, children and youth for use in conflict resolution and peacemaking, all anyone who are interested in the influence of contemporary art on social processes in society.
