Abstract
The article analyzed the views of Ukrainian scientist and pedagog Mykola Hrunskyy on the problem of characteristics of students, highlights the contribution of scientist to the development of methodic of writing characteristics. Proved that M. Hrunskyy first time in ukrainian pedagogy based on own teaching experience developed its own algorithm on drafting characteristics: 1) the study of psychological papers for the purpose of introspection; 2) observation of the students and the accumulation of material in the pedagogical diary; 3) review of the recent literature on the issue of pedagogical characteristics and with the best characteristics; 4) writing characteristics according to plan. The author gives a short biographical information about scientist and stresses that M. Hrunskyy had his own views on pedagogy and its objectives, namely: the teacher is core of pedagogy and his main role – education in the learning process. Pedagogical characteristics, according to M. Hrunskyy, are playing in educational process a key role because of their ability to prepare properly requires not only solid theoretical knowledge but also clearly demonstrates the overall ability of future teachers to work with children. In other words, the ability to write a pedagogical characteristic – a kind of indicator pedagogical abilities and suitability for pedagogical work.
