Abstract
This paper presents an overview of the main concept provisions of teacher training, researched by many foreign scientists. The typology of concepts associated with various current models of higher education (including general education, general professional education and vocational specialized education) is considered. Comprehensive concept is peculiar to university education, general professional education – to pedagogical universities and higher pedagogical schools or institutions, vocational specialized education – to pedagogical colleges. Other typologies of concepts are oriented on organizational and content changes in teacher education. Among them there are: personalistic, pragmatic (or competency), progressive, multifaceted ones. More general concepts (or orientations) in the preparation of teachers are technological, humanistic and functional. Separately, the main provisions of concepts, in which practice is priority, are outlined. They are the concept of reflexive practice and the concept of learning through practice. The paper outlines future directions for scientific research on training of teachers abroad, analysis and evaluation of concepts which are famous in western countries. It also looks for the answer as to which concept could be the most effective and relevant ones (most realistic to be implemented under current domestic conditions).
