Abstract

It is proved that the tendency of standardization, which characterizes the modern development of education systems of many countries of the world, is typical for the USA, having, at the same time, its own national format. It is disclosed that at present, the mission of standards for US school education is positioned by the American scholars as a tool for improving quality and equal access to education.
