Abstract
In the article, in retrospect, the development of the activity of the psychological service of the educational system of independent Ukraine is highlighted in the context of the implementation of the personality-oriented educational paradigm. As a result of the study, it was established that the proclamation of a person-centered educational policy in the country was implemented in the form of such initiatives as the creation of a psychological service in the school, and later in all educational institutions, as well as in increasing attention to the psychological and pedagogical training of future teachers and the retraining of practicing teachers and educators. The most significant achievement was the organization of the activity of an independent national institution - the Psychological Service of the educational system of Ukraine (1998). The activities of its employees in subsequent years contributed to the realization of an individualized, person-centered approach to students of all ages by means and technologies of practical psychology. The contribution of V. Panka to the development of the service and the development of the theoretical and methodological foundations of its activities are defined. Analysis of the Ukrainian scientific and psychological literature for the period of 2000-2010 years showed a shift in emphasis in psychology research from the study of individual functional problems of the learning process (1950 - the first half of the 1980s) to the study of an individual personality, its talent and self-development, but outside the context of learning activities.
