Abstract
The article deals with the basic methods to study social tension in the organization. The authors discuss the measures o f social tension in the organization which include socio-psychological climate in organization, conflict proneness in the organization and staffs job satisfaction and staffs well-being. The methods used to study social tension in the organization include survey (interviews, questionnaires, tests), expert assessment and content analysis o f information sources to identify measures o f social tension. The article describes two groups o f basic instruments to study social tension in the organization: those that address social tension in the organization proper (e.g., ”A typical instrument to examine social and labor relations and to develop the conflict prevention mechanisms " developed by researchers o f Kharkiv National University, and "Instrument to assess the levels o f social tension at industrial enterprises" by D.O. Shmonin) and those that address the measures o f social tension in the organization. The discussed instruments can be used to assess social tension in organizations o f various types. A combination o f several methods to study social tension in the organization is recommended to gain the best results.
