Abstract

The article deals with an issue of interdisciplinary integration as a pedagogical condition of forming linguistic identity of future translators. The aim of the article is to reason the efficiency of implementing interdisciplinary integration into the process of training future translators/interpreters as a pedagogical condition. Pedagogical conditions of forming a linguistic identity of future translators/interpreters are considered as an amount of actions aimed at phased modeling and efficient functioning of the process of forming and developing components of linguistic identity of future interpreters. Modern society requires specialists in the area of international and intercultural communication, whose competence is beyond the scope of simple knowledge of a language. A profession of a translator/interpreter requires a set of knowledge (linguistic, extra linguistic, common cultural from the area of country study, history and literature, and also knowledge necessary for translating in special fields: economics, jurisprudence, politics, education, medicine etc). On the basis of the studied literature, survey of experts (25 foreign language teachers, translators) we concluded that providing interdisciplinary integration is an important pedagogical condition of forming linguistic identity of future translators/interpreters; it promotes efficient mastering a complex of knowledge in different fields as an integrity, but not as a set of separate elements. Besides, realization of interdisciplinary integration helps to assimilate knowledge, to form skills and abilities of students to gain values, experience simultaneously. The formation of linguistic identity of future translators/interpreters can be understood as a consistent operation of changing personality in the process of mastering a complex of disciplines, aimed at the development of abilities to cognize, describe, evaluate, change the environment, effectively communicate by means of the foreign language in a foreign language discourse activity.
