Abstract

The process of integrating the national economy in European Economic Area is characterized by structural and content transformations of market relations in the hospitality industry that actualizes the need to reconsider the content of professional training of future hospitality specialists in view of innovative professional performance. In the paper, it has been specified that the internationalization processes cause the need to transform the structure and the content of the undergraduates’ core competencies in professional (vocational) education. Foreign experience in implementing core competencies into the content of education proves their extended classification that practically integrates theoretical knowledge and understanding, their practical and mobile application in professional activity, life values. Based on the analysis of the list and the content of core competencies in the standards of professional (vocational) education on hospitality careers, it has been identified that there appears to be the need to extend or deepen them toward forming the undergraduates’ knowledge, abilities, skills, personal traits that today are defined by the trends in adgusting the national education systems and economy development under the conditions of European integration. It has been generalized that the processes of updating the content of the standards of professional (vocational) education should be based on the actual needs of the modern labour market. When defining the list and the content of core competencies of future highly qualified specialists, it is necessary to use foreign experience in order to adjust the national professional education to high indicators of professional education and training quality confirmed in the world. For future hospitality specialists, the content of core competencies should be transformed in accordance with the national cultural traditions and innovative trends in the restaurant industry development, while coordinating with legal documents and regulatory acts that currently regulate functioning of the professional (vocational) education system.
