Abstract

Having examined the criteria of expert evaluation of foreign language textbooks in Western discourse, the author emphasized the importance of the authenticity of the textbook language and the reality of the created language situations; correspondence of the linguistic content of the textbook to the declared level of language proficiency, age and psychological characteristics of students.
