Abstract
Today there are only separate common approaches connected with the educational subjects elective courses development. However, it isn’t enough for forming the universal bases of elective courses creating. The term “elective courses” is analyzed in the article, the meaning of foreign languages elective courses is defined and characterized. The analysis of the scientific research in the branch of elective courses is done. The results of survey of students and teachers of the high school as to writing the manuals of elective courses of foreign language are learned. In common structure of professional studying in high school we can highlight 3 basic units: main (standard of general education), professional (professional educational standard), elective (voluntary courses) – combination of profiles and specializations. Thus, survey results allow us to determine the theme of educational manuals of elective courses. Elective courses made by laboratory are relied on two-years studying at 10–11-forms of professional school (two hours per week). Thus, there are 136– 140 hours for learning the course (68–70 hours in 10–11 forms). It is expected that the elective courses will have a modal structure and will consist of thematic modules (units) fixed on a base of results of senior pupils and foreign language teachers survey. The questioning was made in six regions of Ukraine in order to define the attitude of 10–11 forms students to possible topics of elective courses of foreign languages.
