Abstract

The content of the concept of competence, in particular the reader, and the experience of its measurement in the context of international monitoring studies of education quality are revealed in the article. The PIRLS and PISA studies are described, their goals are revealed, and examples of the tasks that the students have solved are given. In addition, the ways of Ukraine's participation in the Programme for International Student AssessmentPISA in 2018 are outlined.
