Abstract

Internationalization is a global phenomenon, it is considered a priority for the development not only of the system of higher education, but also of society as a whole. That is why there are new models and approaches to the internationalization of higher education as a means of positioning the country beyond its borders. Analytical materials contain an analysis of the strategies of internationalization of higher education in the countries of Europe: Italy, Germany, Poland, Finland, France and Russia. Studies of internationalization in these countries illustrated the differences in national and institutional strategies. However, you can observe common goals and objectives, for example, the value of reputation (often symbolized by the rating), visibility and competitiveness; competition for talented students and scientists; short-term and / or long-term economic benefits; demographic aspects; emphasis on international graduate employment and social activity. As a result of the analysis of the internationalization of higher education in these countries, ten key trends have been identified: the growing importance of internationalization at all levels; influence of national strategies of internationalization on institutional; insufficient financing of education; increasing the number of private institutions and commercialization of educational services; the impact of globalization; growing competition; the growing role of regionalization; lack of data; new directions of development of internationalization (digital education). The results of the study can be used to develop a strategy for the internationalization of higher education in Ukraine.
