Abstract
The article deals with the peculiarities of the application of the principle of polytechnics in institutions of general secondary education in the study of natural sciences. Elements of STEM-education are being implemented to a greater extent in extracurricular and out-of-school activities, the introduction of STEM-education techniques for the formation of polytechnic component of subjects in general secondary education in the subjects of the natural cycle is very relevant, since in modern conditions, polytechnical knowledge and skills are considered as a tool for solving life problems, and not just as theoretical and practical knowledge of the scientific basis of production.
