Abstract
The article analyzes some issues related to teacher professional development in the modern educational space. Particular attention is paid to the mechanisms of teacher professional development within the framework of three strategic areas, namely self-reflection of professional activity, familiarization with teaching experience of colleagues and acquisition of one’s own experience, strengthening of an individual professional style and self-actualization. The features of professional development as a process of mutual enhancement of teacher’s personal and professional qualities and development of the holistic phenomenon expressing some individual and subjective aspects of professional and educational work were characterized. The main obstacles to professional growth of teaching staff were determined. Some ways of overcoming them were indicated.
