Abstract

The article analyzes the problems of psychological rehabilitation of combatants returning from the anti-terrorist operation zone. Theoretical and practical issues related to combatants’ psychological traumas, psycho-emotional disorders are discussed. The article determines that staying in an action area is an extreme situation where people experience constantly the strongest psycho-emotional stresses, and excessive volitional efforts are needed to overcome them. The survey show that people returning from an action area feel usually hopelessness, low self-realization, anger on others, guilt, anxiety, alienation and a whole range of negative emotions. A lot of soldiers wish to avoid situations of open conversation about the events that happened to them at war. As a result, their own emotions are accumulated that prevent transformation of their stressful negative experience. The psychological aspects of the content and implementation of the integrated programs of psychological rehabilitation are examined. The different forms of work aimed at emotional well-being improving are analyzed. The features in the psychological rehabilitation of combatants with art-, mindfulness-oriented and cognitive-behavioural therapies are discussed. There is a great need for social and psychological adaptation, veterans, which constitute the essence of cognitive-semantic processing traumatic information and experience, solving personal problems of veterans.
