Abstract
The paper is devoted to the investigation of the influence of university rankings on the development of different models of leadership among the universities. The author stressed that due to the fact of specific approaching for university activities in different international university rankings, we could speak about different types of leadership, which are supported by orientation for participation in these rankings. In case of ARWU this is scientific and research model of leadership, because the main indicators of this ranking evaluate the efficiency of research. QS World University Rankings elaborates status-marketing model of leadership, because it is oriented toward measure of reputation of university among experts and employers as far as number of foreign faculty and students. At last, Webometrics creates a leadership model in a virtual space, because its indicators evaluate the www-page of the university and its representation in virtual space. Each of these international rankings has certain specific approach to university, which is reflected in particular cluster of values, shaping of which it provokes. That is why the complex using of rankings in the process of development of institutional leadership is important.
