Abstract
The article analyzes modern approaches to training adult educators in European countries. The author found that adult educator training is a complex, dynamic system which quickly and adequately responds to the needs of adult education; showed that its defining characteristic features are: flexibility in selection of forms and duration of training; availability of professional experience of applicants; adjustment of curricula to the needs of the labor market and society; focus on the formation of scientific knowledge about adult education, understanding of its nature; mastery of research skills and andragogical competence; active cooperation between adult learners and teachers; application of conception of “reflexive practitioner”; diversification of learning programs focused on the formation of andragogical, communicative, reflexive competences. It was revealed that the leading trends of adult educator training in European countries are professionalization, certification and Europeanization.
