Abstract
The purpose of the article is to define the psychological background of effective developmental impact of virtual (Internet) environment on adult persons. It is shown that the virtual educational space, in contrast of the environment, is the result of own adult choices oriented to his purposes and readiness for self-development, the availability of self-development design and motivational level. The main psychological factors of effective distance learning and the most common virtual educational systems, including blended learning systems, are analized. The potential of psychologically grounded virtual educational space for adults and the elderly in the development of intelligence and subject activity is proved.
