Abstract

The article reveals the importance of ICT environment formation in the educational institutions of UK. The main innovative ICTs are computer games, and Web 2.0 technologies. According to leading British scientists, online ICT applications based on WEB 2.0 (blogs, electronic libraries, wikis, etc.), virtual educational environments, and educational computer games are the promising innovative ICTs for the education that assist in the teaching of gifted students. With their use, training through social interaction and communication in network becomes possible. In addition, the technology of virtual learning is a fairly common technology, where training courses are developed and carried out online. The author has analysed the possibilities for bringing computer games into the educational process and, having examined their technological and content aspects, gave examples of the positive and negative aspects of this process in the UK, as well as the main ways of using computer games at school. With the application of Web 2.0 technology in education, the students can be involved in learning process in different ways: through search and acquaintance – search engines (Google, Rambler), which combine materials and facilitate increased files, programs exchange; through research and study – search engines allow Internet users to find information, download their own data, share search results, and etc.; through improvement of knowledge – downloading to the network and from the network – not simple exchange of specific files, but joint editing or joint formation of knowledge, that is, systematized encyclopaedias of shared knowledge; and through information exchange – users place on the net, download and edit personal information, images and files, create e-diaries, and etc.
