Abstract
The article uses data accumulated by researchers of age psychology and physiology on the peculiarities of the cognitive process of younger students, which should be used as the basis for creating the content and modern methods of studying mathematics for elementary school students. The usage of geometrical figures become evident the expediency and timeliness of the presentation in the program for the first class. Child is ready to abstract certain properties of objects of the surrounding world, including, before forming the notion of number, performing arithmetic operations of adding and subtracting numbers, which represents the core of the content of mathematics of the 1st class.Children’ssystem of processing information is still immature, which requires authors of textbooks, methodologists, teachers to provide the student with some help in studying the educational content, including its visual presentation.
