Abstract

Author draws attention to the area of special pedagogy – deaf education. Theoretical and practical aspects of deaf education based on two approaches to understanding deafness are described. This paper presents a positive experience of using sociocultural approach ideas at special schools for hearing people about attitude to deaf. The significant advantages of bilingual education are outlined, when the national sign language is used as the first and principal along with verbal. The Ukrainian Sign Language Laboratory specialists’ achievement is highlighted.
