Abstract

The author emphasizes that one of the most important tasks of the development of the education system of Ukraine on the way to the 12-year school is the development of a new content of education, accessible and interesting for children, socially and humanely oriented, aimed at the intellectual development of youth. Scientist discusses questions: Why should the school teach tomorrow? What to consider as the result of education today - scientific knowledge or "competence", as educators say? What are the hundred fifty or even twenty five major scientific ideas, concepts, methods, definitions, statements of a field of scientific knowledge that are truly important, socially significant?
