Abstract

The article analyses main statements of key studies, strategical documents and Government’s decision in VET sector from 2011 to 2018. They are VET researches “Review of vocational education: the Wolf report” (2011), “The Richard Review of apprenticeships” (2012), “Report of the Independent Panel on Technical Education” (2016); policy papers “English Apprenticeships: Our 2020 Vision” (2015), “Building our Industrial Strategy” (2017) and Technical and Further Education Act 2017; reforming programs “Post-16 Skills Plan” (2016), “Technical education reform: the case for change” (2016), “Apprenticeship Reform Programme Benefits Realisation” (2017), “Post-16 technical education reforms T level action plan” (2017). As a result of conducted research it was defined and put in reforming essence the change of VET’s vector to develop technical knowledge and skills. Main components of WBL course within the country were outlined, in particular, apprenticeship programs, technical education, technical qualifications, easy-to-understand qualification system, more “players” within the sector etc. the aim of those changes is also defined – to provide skilled employment for citizens and quality workforce for industry and economy of the country. It has been concluded that the need in further studying Great Britain’s experience is crucial because the country continues VET sector improvement to better economy, industry, productivity, social sector and “keep positions” under the BREXIT conditions. Thus, elements or best practices of that experience should be taken into consideration and implemented for ongoing reforming Ukraine’s system of professional (vocational) education.
