Abstract
The paper highlights certain crucial changes in education of children with special needs in Ukraine. The Ukrainian education system went through significant transformational changes as the new social and education philosophy was introduced which is based on human-centric principles. Equal access to quality education was declared the mainstream policy for the development of education. It applies to all citizens, including persons with special needs, disabilities, and/or impairments. Nowadays, the functioning and development of the Ukrainian system of education for children with special needs is characterized by a greater emphasis on de-institualization and providing all teaching and learning resources in accessible formats taking into account individual special needs – a key principle of inclusive education.
