Abstract
The directions of the educational strategy of the People's Republic of China at the present stage are analyzed. It is emphasized that the basis of the reform of the general education of China lies in the decentralization and democratization of governance, the expansion of the autonomy of educational institutions with the simultaneous enhancement of their accountability to society, the movement towards the formation of new models of organization, management and financing of education taking into account challenges of our time.
