Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of competency-based teaching to be the strategic direction of developing a basic level of physics course. It is shown that at the stage of a system formation taking into account the updated educational and methodological supply textbooks play leading roles in achieving the goals of competence physical education. The main didactic functions of a textbook, tendencies of their transformation and peculiarities of realization in the system of valid physics textbook for the applicants for the level of basic secondary education are analyzed. It was emphasized that a textbook of the new generation itself, the content and methodical device of which was created on the basis of competency-based, personality-oriented and activity approaches, becomes not only a tool for support and implementation of modern methods and technologies of teaching, but also their core element. The emphasis is placed on the fact that a modern physics textbook implements a certain pedagogical technology, models of formation of the main components of educational and cognitive activity, provides the implementation of the didactic conditions of individual self-development and forms a teaching trajectory as well. The physics textbook for the gymnasium is considered as a multifunctional tool that provides achievement of didactic goals and mutually reinforcing connection of separate components of the method of competency-based learning. The article substantiates that a modern physics textbook is a relatively independent and integral methodological system. In this context, the potential of textbooks regarding the implementation of the target, content, procedural and effective components of the methodical system of competencybased teaching of physics in the gymnasium are analyzed. The prospects of a physics textbook as a systemically important component of the teaching and methodical kit that includes didactic providing which forms the subject and key competences of the gymnasium students and their educational needs are determined.
