Abstract
The article is devoted to the actual problem of cognitive interest of students. The author gives a definition of the process of formation of cognitive interest and notes that a significant reserve of increasing the cognitive interest of students is the system of work laid down in a competently oriented textbook of the Ukrainian language, which is designed to meet the needs of the student, to create conditions for everyone to develop in accordance with their inclinations, preferences and opportunities, to form an ability to think critically independently.
