Abstract
The report, carried out at the roundtable "Ukrainian Nation-building: Between Conflict and Consensus" in ISPP NAPN Ukraine on April 19, 2018, considers the problem of building the Ukrainian nation from the standpoint of the subject-actorial approach of social psychology. It is shown that the motivational block of nation-building as a form of individual group activity raises a number of theoretical questions that require an answer, in particular, from social and political psychology. The following issues are analyzed: 1) the definition of a counterparty, which today is the most large-scale opposition to the process of nation-building; 2) whether it is possible to consider the nation as a product of national creation an independent value, or only a condition, a means necessary for solving actual problems; 3) how homogeneous is the motivation for nation-building; 4) about the nation-forming activity caused by the desire for "freedom from" and "freedom for"; 5) the awareness, reflexiveness and validity of the desire for nation-building as far as the distance of its bearer from the level of the intellectual and spiritual elite; 6) the levels of motivation of nation-building (in accordance with the pyramid of the hierarchy of needs by A. Maslow). In general, as noted in the report, this material can be considered only the beginning of the development of the conceptual model of the nation-building process from the standpoint of the subject-actorial approach.
