Abstract

The article describes the input of Vasyl Hrihorovych Kremen, a well-known Ukrainian philosopher, state and public figure, teacher, president of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, to the development of education and science in Ukraine for more than 25 years’ period of work. The contribution of V. H. Kremen in the field of state-building is cleared up, carried out on responsible public positions, first of all - as the Minister of Education and science (1999-2005), whose initiatives were connected with the development of a national in spirit and a European value-based education, with the implementation of numerous innovations in the functioning of secondary and higher schools. His achievements as the head of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine are shown, which defines directions for the deployment of research work on the most urgent issues of education, in accordance with the topical challenges of our time. It is proved that the basis of all types of various state and scientific activities ofV. H. Kremen grounds on a philosophical and educational concept of the imperative of human-centric dimension in education substantiated by him as a philosopher in his numerous works. The essence of a new strategy of Ukrainian education in the conditions of globalization shifts (according to V. H. Kremen) is analyzed, which is to fonn a network person-personality, which is in constant self-development, has a clear civic position, a sense of national unity, patriotism, a person capable of making changes and perception of changeability.
