Abstract
The work reveals the criteria for the formation of professional competence o f teachers of educational institutions. Assessment o f level of professional pedagogical competence assumes studying, diagnostics of personal qualities of the teacher, ability to implementation of pedagogical activity, quality of performance of professional functions, results of pedagogical activity. It changes the attitude towards professional pedagogical competence as to integrative characteristics of the teacher that allows estimating most fully and objectively the level of professional competence as an indicator of level of pedagogical skill.
