Abstract
The author generalizes approaches to the socialization of personality in philosophical, sociological, psychological, cultural, pedagogical research. The socialization of the elder preschool child is considered as a process and the result of his social development and education, the achievement of the optimal form of social activity, which makes it possible to transform their own lives and environment, to show readiness for initiative and creative interaction with society. The conclusion is made on the necessity of providing in a preschool educational institution a step-by-step socialization of children, which envisages updating of the content, forms and methods of preschool education and education of Ukrainian sociocultural realities, and aims to provide the child with assistance in the process of assimilating social experience and entering the system of social relations.
