Abstract
The article discusses the theory of self-determination of person’s behavior and activities as one of the basic scientific approaches describing the Postnonclassical model of a personality, according to with the personality is understood as an active self-determined agent. The «personality» category in the works of G.O Ball is analyzed, the subject-matter of such qualities as creative activities and inner freedom are determined. The article shows the limits of «freedom» interpretation as perceived need or freedom of choice. The individual psychological and socio-psychological components of personal freedom are characterized. The current understanding of personality self-determination by Ukrainian psychology is revealed.
