Abstract
The section highlights the views of outstanding Ukrainian enlighteners of the third part of the XIX th - early XX th century M.Dragomanov and B. Grinchenko on the way of development of the Ukrainian, national in spirit and content of the education school. The similarity of their ideas (the native language school, the spread of cultural-national enlightenment) is justified, and also the differences in the public figures’ vision of the expedient guidelines for the development of the Ukrainian school are reflected (in M.Dragomanov’s Eurocentric approach and B. Grinchenko’ ethno-national approach).
