Abstract
The author researches the problem of art education of students through the current process of globalization, information society and its need for an «innovative person» as the subject of one’s own life. The danger of «clip thinking» causes some changes in the definitive field. The expediency of choosing the concept of «artistic preferences» is proved. Its content defined more exactly in relation to the «artistic interests», «artistic taste». The dominant orientations of formation of students’ preferences in the educational and extracurricular activities are considered. Pedagogical mechanism of formation of artistic tastes is discovered. The expected educational effect of such formation is described. The author enumerates principles, which provide for optimal organization and content of the educational and aesthetic process, including the principles of cathartic activity, art-therapy effect.
