Abstract

Dissertation for a candidate degree in psychological sciences, specialty 19.00.05 - social psychology; psychology of social work. – Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. – Severodonetsk, 2015. The dissertation research is dedicated to the study of psychological factors of first-course students’ social adaptation in terms of a vocational institutions educational environment. It was found that social adaptation is the process and the result of active adaptation of an individual to the group, to the terms of social environment of vocational schools and to social life conditions which are in the process of changing or has already changed. The main psychological factors of successful social adaptation of first-course students in terms of vocational institution educational environment were established. They are: changes of mental states self-rating indicators (reduction of aggression, anxiety, frustration and rigidity), interpersonal relationships and level of vitality (the change of social status for more favorable) and changing attitudes to their learning conditions in educational institution (characteristics of educational and production processes organization, attitude and influence of an institution administration, special features of interpersonal relationships, the contact with relatives and friends). The implementation of the developed program of training sessions for first-course students’ social adaptation in terms of vocational institutions educational environment contributed to lowering indicators of aggressiveness, anxiety, frustration, rigidity. It facilitated the ability to effective adaptability developing, improved acceptance of oneself and social environment, improved overall emotional state of participants. The rates of emotional comfort and the overall level of social adaptation increased.
