Abstract
The article presents some results of a theoretical study on the challenge of predicting the development of the comprehensive secondary education. On the basis of the analysis conducted on the scientific sources, the key concepts and the theory of forecasting the systems development, pedagogical prognostic sand the general theory of a human activity, the author: 1) confirmed the urgency of the need for professional forecasting in the development of school education in the economic, political and social crisis in Ukraine; 2) defined the need to update the methodology of forecasting the education al processes and the development of modern prognostic tools (a system of forecasting methods and tools) that would ensure the planned reform the education system, improving the quality of education al processes and formulating the new strategies and the alternative ways for the sustainable development education; 3) defined and justified the psychological structure of fore casting the development of school education and revealed the specific content components (motivation, purpose, object, subject, content, methods, means and outcomes). In the article, forecasting the development of secondary education is considered by the author as the scientifically organized activities of the specially trained professionals, based on the modern achievements of science and technology and aims to develop predictions about the state, prospect sand problems of school education in the near and far future. The promising areas for the further study on forecasting the development of education is the development and study of the special techniques to predict the consequences of innovation processes in the education system.
