Abstract
In our fast-paced time, different types of disclosure of information are becoming more and more important and an inalienable means of assimilating it at different ages. Of particular importance is the acquisition of it in conditions of elementary education, in particular in the methodology of the subject literary reading. Effective implementation of the illustrative teaching function contributes to the aesthetic, general cultural, speech, and social development of children. Exceptional role in the presentation of the text was provided by outstanding humanitarian educators. A.Komensky, K.D. Ushinsky, S.F.Rusov, V.O. Sukhomlynsky, L.V.Zankov and others. Visual perception and visual memory intensify associative and imaginative thinking, speech, stimulate cognitive interest, therefore, the perception and understanding of the text by younger students takes place more deeply and emotionally, if reading and analysis involves work with illustrative material.
