Abstract

The article deals with issues of the Ukrainian sign language origin more than two centuries ago. The features of origin the first educational centers for deaf are outlined. The role of using sign language in teaching methods - of using sign language and combined, is justified in the historical aspect. The views of famous scientists regarding the role and importance of sign language in deaf education are highlighted. The role of deaf teachers in the application of teaching methods using the sign language actively is outlined. This article provides an example of the student’s answers to the tasks, who had been studied by mimic method.
